Training That Sticks: Lessons from the Room
A workshop ends in an afternoon. Behavior change does not. Here is what we have learned about making training actually work.
Through our training and development practice — and our partner-powered training resources — we have delivered programs on everything from respectful workplace practices to management development. The programs that produce lasting change share a few traits:
They are built for the specific audience, not pulled off a shelf. They give people language and tools they can use the next morning, not abstract theory. And they are reinforced afterward — through manager follow-ups, job aids, and leadership modeling — because no single session changes a habit on its own.
We design every engagement around those principles, whether we are training frontline staff or executive teams. The measure of a training program is not the evaluation form at the end of the day; it is what people do differently a month later.
